  9. Minutes of the UBC Meeting August 1st, 1990

  11. These minutes were mistakenly not included in the last proceedings.  The
  12. FDDI MIB Working Group last met on Wednesday, August 1, 1990.  The
  13. meeting was held in conjunction with the IETF plenary at the University
  14. of British Columbia.

  16. Goals
  17.  
  18. Once again, there were several attendees who were new to the working
  19. group.  The goals of the group were reviewed for their benefit.
  20.  
  21. The text of the current document draft was distributed and discussed.
  22.  
  23. The primary technical output of the meeting resulting from the review of
  24. the current draft was a decision to restructure the variable groups so
  25. as to allow a single network application entity (agent) to support more
  26. than one SMT.
  27.  
  28. Future work will entail:
  29.  
  30.  
  31.    o review and comment on the mandatory get/set variables defined thus
  32.      far,
  33.    o gaining implementation experience with the above,
  34.    o engineering ANSI events and actions into traps and MIB variables in
  35.      accord with Internet standards, and
  36.    o addressing optional groups.

  39. Bert Williams (Synernetics) and Rich Fox (SynOptics) volunteered to work
  40. on the text for the optional variables and to forward them to the chair
  41. for inclusion in the draft at an appropriate time.

  55. NEXT MEETING:
  56.  
  57. The next meeting of the FDDI MIB Working Group is tentatively scheduled
  58. to be held in in conjunction with Interop '90.  The meeting will most
  59. likely be held on Thursday evening.  The primary topic of discussion
  60. will be to review implementation experiences and interoperability issues
  61. uncovered in the preparation for and performance of the Interop event.
  62. Plans for the meeting will be announced via the mailing list as they are
  63. finalized.
